Our highly trained staff is dedicated to supporting the development of all Scholars. Our teachers and support staff use proven methodologies and a highly effective curriculum to help Scholars grow academically, socially, and physically. We regularly participate in professional development in order to improve our skills and offer a better learning experience for the Scholars.

Mr Backer has recently completed his degree from Wesley College and currently he is working on a master’s degree from Delaware State University. Mr. Backer says, "In my class, I promote high energy, teamwork, and most importantly fun".

 David teaches 1st grade at DCPA. This is his second year at the school (both in 1st grade). He also has 7 years experience in various forms of music education. He says he greatly looks forward to working with your Scholars this year.

Krystin graduated from West Chester University with a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education. She taught first grade for the past two years at DCPA. At other schools, Krystin has also taught kindergarten and fifth grade

 Brian is one of the founding teachers at DCPA. This is his fourth year with the school. During his time here, he taught first grade for 2 years and last year he was in kindergarten. Brian graduated from Wilmington University

April is entering her third year teaching, but her first year at DCPA. April earned a master’s degree from Adelphi University in 2008 and has previously taught 3rd grade in Maryland. April is originally from New York

Ellen is a brand new teacher! She earned her master’s degree in Elementary Education in 2008 and has been substitute teaching ever since. She is excited to be here and begin her teaching career.

Mr. Martinez is teaching 2nd grade this year at DCPA. Mr. Martinez is a member of the Teach For America program and is currently pursuing a masters degree in Education from Wilmington University.

Mr. Palermo is starting his second year at DCPA; last year he taught 3rd grade. He earned his bachelor’s degree from Louisiana State University. Mr. Palermo is working on his master’s degree in Elementary Education from Wilmington University.

Stephanie has taught 1st grade for the past two years at DCPA. Stephanie holds a bachelor’s degree from DSU and a master’s degree from Wilmington University. She is currently pursuing her second master’s degree from Wilmington University to become a Reading Specialist.

You may remember Mr. Temko from three years ago when he taught kindergarten for the last four months of that school year with the former Dean Bono. Mr. Temko spent the last two years teaching middle school math in Wilmington and Philadelphia. He is excited to be back at DCPA teaching.

Bahiya has been teaching for five years.  She says there is no job better than teaching. Each day is different and children are a constant source of amazement. They are fun to work with and watching them learn and grow is extremely rewarding.

Mr. Woznicki

Cortland

Teacher

 This is Greg's 10th year in the classroom, 14th overall working with youth since leaving Cortland State in 1997. He competes in duathlons regionally, a volunteer firefighter, and a member of the 26th PA Infantry Civil War reenactment regiment. Born in western NY, Greg make PA home with his wife and three children. From understanding historical heroes to literary masterminds, mathematical "survival" to a firm handshake, we become more than senior Scholars, we become Red Dragons.
