What is a Charter School?
Charter schools are tuition free public schools that operate independently of a specific school district. Charter schools have the freedom and exibility to structure their programs in creative ways to boost student academic performance. In exchange for these freedoms, charter schools have a greater degree of accountability to the public to show strong academic results. Many charter schools have unique school programs, uniforms, and an extended school year.O
Are there really two teachers in every classroom?
Yes, Delaware College Prep Academy uses a two-teacher model in grades Kindergarten through 2. After 2nd grade, our homerooms reflect a more traditional school model of 1 teacher per classroom.
How many students are in every class?
On average we have 27 Scholars in our Kindergarten classrooms and 25 Scholars in our First Grade classrooms. However our Scholars spend most of their academic day in small, skills-based groups for English Language Arts and Math instruction. The teacher-student ratio in our English Language Arts groups is 1:10. Our ratio in mathematics averages 1:15.
